Wachusett Dirt Dawgs News Release
LEOMINSTER, Mass (July 1, 2014). The Dirt Dawgs made a valiant effort to comeback in the game but they fell short. The Brockton Rox topped the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs 15-11. After trailing 11-2, the Dirt Dawgs were able to make it a one run game after a seven run sixth to make the score 12-11. The Rox would prevent the Dirt Dawgs from scoring after that point.
The Dirt Dawgs were led by Kurtis White (Franklin Pierce) who went 3-5 including his third home run of the season. He also had two RBIs on the night. Joe Breen (Southern Connecticut) went 3-6 extending his hit streak to 10. Ryder Miconi (William and Mary), Richard Fecteau (Salem State), and Vincent Sharkey (Adelphi) each scored two runs in the game.
The Rox hit three home runs in the game by Nick Johnson (Vassar), Jonathan Salcedo (Maine), and Tom Stoffel (Virginia Tech). Salcedo and Stoffel each had three RBIs in the game. Christian Campbell (Rutgers) and Brendan King (Holy Cross) combined for three scoreless innings to end the game.
The Dirt Dawgs will travel to the Seacoast Mavericks on July 2nd where Ben White (Holy Cross) will take the mound. They will return home on July 5th to face the Pittsfield Suns.
