
Rox Top Cutters 7-4; Two Teams Meet Again on Tuesday Night

West Haven, CT- The New Haven County Cutters dropped their fourth straight on Monday night, falling 7-4 to the Brockton Rox in a sloppy played game at Yale Field.
The Cutters snapped a 1-1 tie in the third inning, breaking out for three runs against Rox starter Derek Andersen. The inning featured RBI singles from Hector Lebron and Darren Ciraco as New Haven collected four hits in the inning.
Brockton answered right back in the top of the fourth against starter Wes Mindngall. Back to back singles from Mike Torres and Kris Zacuto were followed by a Saul Bustos RBI double cutting the New Haven lead to 4-2. Two batters later, a Mike Sandoval double drove in two more knotting the game at four.
The Rox took the lead for good in the fifth against reliever Luke Lambo. With two out and a runner on first, Kris Zacuto doubled down the left field line scoring Chad Stewart and giving the Rox a 5-4 lead.
Brockton tacked on an insurance run in the seventh on a suicide squeeze play scoring Stewart and in the eighth on Mike Sandaval's fourth homer of the year, making it a 7-4 game.
Rox starter Derek Andersen (6-7) allowed three earned runs in eight innings and struck out seven to earn the win. Luke Lambo (0-1) took the loss out of the pen for New Haven. Reliever Tony Stutz pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his second save of the season.
Hector Lebron went 1-for-4 with two RBIs for New Haven and Kevin Forbes had a 2-for-4 night in the loss. The two teams combined for eight errors and allowed four unearned runs to score.
Tomorrow night the Cutters and Rox meet in game two of their three game series. Every Tuesday night at Yale Field is a Two for Tuesday.
