Rochester Minn.- The Honkers (1-2) fell to the St. Cloud Rox 0-12 at Mayo Field on Fireworks Extravaganza Night. Rochester is now 1-1 at home.

Honkers' starting pitcher Eddie Mathis (Bellarmine) pitched a clean opening inning, but ran into trouble in the second. 10 Rox hitters came to the plate, scoring seven runs during the inning. St. Cloud churned out seven hits, including three home runs. Mathis (0-1) was taken out of the game after two innings. He took the loss and finished with three strikeouts and one walk.

St. Cloud added three more runs on three hits in the third inning off Honker reliever Kyle Ferderer (North Dakota State). The Honkers bullpen settled in after that and was able to keep the Rox lineup quiet for most of the night. Ferderer lasted 2.2 innings, pitching the final 1.2 without giving up a run. Spencer Johnson (Wayne State) had an outstanding outing in relief. He pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, only allowing one hit with three strikeouts.

Honker right fielder Jordan Hart (Minnesota State Mankato) had a highlight reel catch in the outfield. He climbed the fence to rob a would-be lead-off home run by Nicola Mislinski (San Diego) to start the seventh inning.

Kenny Saenz (BYU) earned the win (1-0) for St. Cloud. He pitched five innings, only allowing three hits and one walk. He struck out 10 batters in the game.

The Rochester Honkers will embark on a six-game road trip following tonight. It will begin with a 7:05 game at Joe Faber Field against the St. Cloud Rox. Hunter Sullivan (Louisville) will start on the mound for the Flock against Dominic Austing (St. Cloud State) for the Rox.

The Flock will be back at Mayo Field on Thursday, June 8th to take on the Eau Claire Express. Come to the ball game for TeamUp/Miracle Field Kick Off Night, presented by Meshbesher & Spence.
