Rochester Honkers News Release

Rochester Minn.- The Thunder Bay Border Cats announced earlier this month that issues with the playing surface at Port Arthur Stadium will leave the field unplayable until June 17th. The Rochester Honkers' road series, originally scheduled to be in Thunder Bay from June 3-4, has been moved to Legion Field in Marshall, Minn. The Honkers' second road series with the Border Cats in July 11-12 will be played at Port Arthur Stadium.

Kyle Smith, owner of the Thunder Bay Border Cats, said that the city of Thunder Bay is re-doing the field at Port Arthur Stadium for the World Junior Baseball Tournament in September. A delay in construction has caused the change in location of this weekend's games against Thunder Bay.

American Legion Field, owned by MARSH Sports, can be found at 411 5th Street South, Marshall, Minn. 56258. First pitch on Saturday, June 3rd is scheduled for 6:30 pm. The series finale on Sunday, June 4th is scheduled for 1:45 pm. Tickets for the game at the door at $5, with half of the proceeds going to Marshall Legion Baseball. Fans will not be able to purchase tickets online or over the phone ahead of the game, only at the stadium.

Smith has asked that questions about the games at Legion Field can be directed to his email, ksmith@bordercatsbaseball.com.

"I know [Legion Field] is top-notch. I know that it is a really good baseball community. Honestly, from the first phone call that we had with them, you could hear the excitement there about [the games], said Smith."

If a weekend in Marshall, Minn. is not in your schedule, do not miss out on Honkers baseball. Listen to Michael Keeley live from Legion Field on the MSBN Sports Network on rochesterhonkers.com. The pregame show will start 15 minutes before first pitch. Access the audio call from any computer, smartphone, or tablet.

The Honkers face off against the St. Cloud Rox tonight. First pitch tonight is 7:05, gates open at 6:00 pm. After the game is the first Fireworks Extravaganza of the season, presented by AmericInn and ABC 6 News.
