Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. -* The St. Cloud Rox took to the road Sunday traveling to Wisconsin Rapids to start a two game series with the Rafters. The Rox defeated the Rafters by a final score of 13-5.
The Rox took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and was answered by the Rafters tying the game up 2-2 in the bottom half of the inning to head into the second inning.
St. Cloud regained their lead 3-1 in the third as Blake Headley led off the inning with a home run. The Rox then got two more in the fourth to lead 5-2 heading into the fifth.
The fifth inning was huge for the Rox as they posted six runs moving their lead to 11-2 over the Rafters.
In the bottom half of the fifth inning Wisconsin Rapids made it an 11-5 game with a three-run home run by Jeremy Montalbano.
The Rox would seal a 13-5 victory in the top of the ninth as they put up two runs. Headley would hit his second home run of the game in the ninth to go 4-for-5 with three runs and six RBIs.
Starting on the mound and earning the win for the Rox was Eric Nyquist as he pitched a total five innings recording four strikeouts. Also seeing action was Michael Healey coming in to close out the game pitching four scoreless innings.
The St. Cloud Rox (28-29, 14-8 Second Half) and the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (26-31, 7-15 Second Half) will be back in action Tuesday as they take Monday off for the Northwoods League Big League Dreams Showcase in Madison, Wisconsin.
