Brockton Rox News Release
Brockton, MA (March 13, 2007) - The Brockton Rox have announced that the team has re-signed 2006 team MVP Guye Senjem. Senjem hit .289 in 84 games with the Rox last season, and led the team with 14 homeruns and 55 RBI. He will be making Brockton his summer home for the third consecutive season in 2007.
Senjem's 14 homeruns tied a Rox single-season record and was the second-highest total in the Can-Am League. The left-handed hitting DH/OF also finished fourth in the league with 55 RBI.
"Guye has been a team leader and the backbone of the Rox offense since he arrived, despite playing with injuries for 2 seasons. A healthy Senjem will put us in great shape for 2007" said Rox owner Van Schley.
He began his pro baseball career in 1997 with the St. Paul Saints of the Northern League. After three seasons with St. Paul, Senjem caught the eye of several Major League clubs. He played in the Cincinnati Reds organization from 2000 - 2004, and was signed by the Colorado Rockies as a free agent in 2004. He first joined the Rox prior to the 2005 season.
The Rox open the 2007 season on Friday, May 25th at Campanelli Stadium against the New Haven County Cutters. Season tickets, Mini-plans, and group outings are on sale now through the Rox offices at (508) 559-7000.
