BROCKTON - Kevin Beavers and Brad Rosenblat led the Brockton Rox to a 2-1 victory over the Worcester Tornadoes at Campanelli Stadium on Friday night.

Beavers pitched seven innings for the Rox (4-1) giving up one unearned run on six hits. The left-hander had his strongest start since June 22. On Friday, Beavers struck out four and walked two.

The game was tied heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Eddie Gerald doubled with one out and Brad Rosenblat followed with a two-run home run. The round-tripper was Rosenblat's second of the year, and put the Rox up 2-0.

Worcester (4-1) came back to score a run in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Zach Strong, making it 2-1. The Rox went to the bullpen and brought in Joey Cole to shut the door. Cole was successful and picked up his seventh save of the year.

Beavers (2-3) picked up his second victory of the season. Greg Montalbano (0-1) was saddled with the loss for the Tornadoes.

The Rox and Tornadoes will meet in the third game of the four-game series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. On Saturday night, Comcast will present a Rox replica jersey giveaway. The first 1,000 fans 12 and under will receive the youth sized jerseys.
