Brockton Rox News Release

BROCKTON – The North Shore Spirit roughed up Rox starter Jon Koch for 10 hits and 8 runs in the first three innings to cruise to a 10-6 win over the Rox before a sellout crowd of 5,548 in Campanelli Stadium, the third largest crowd in team history.

The Rox scored four runs in the eighth, two runs scoring on newcomer Dwight Wildman's double, but Spirit reliever Tim Hart entered to record the last four outs of the game.

Spirit starter Bryan Morse held the Rox to six hits and two runs in seven innings, striking out eight, to run his record to 8-3.

Koch fell to 0-2. The Spirit outhit the Rox, 17-9, to even the series at a game apiece. The first four batters in the Spirit order--Lucas Taylor, Nelson Teilon, Vic Davilla and Frank Charles--had two hits apiece and combined to drive in seven runs.

Mike Sandoval hit his third home run this week, and second in two nights for the Rox.

The Rox (7-12, 34-31) and Spirit (12-6, 44-20) face off in the rubber-game of their three-game series Saturday at 7:11 p.m. Scott Martin will take the mound for the Rox, and will be opposed by Aaron Dean.
