St. Cloud Rox News Release
Duluth, MN - St. Cloud (35-13) battled tightly with Duluth (26-22) on Saturday afternoon but dropped a 2-1 game despite a great pitching performance.
Joe Brandon (Georgia State) led the way with his third straight stellar start, going six innings and allowing no runs on five hits. As a starter this season, Brandon has held teams to just eight runs and hasn't allowed any runs.
Out of the bullpen, Jonathan Martinez (Texas State) was the only reliever the Rox used on Saturday. Martinez gave up two runs, but got St. Cloud into the ninth still tied with a perfect eighth inning.
At the plate, Carson Keithley (Texas State) had three of the Rox' six hits, including a double for St. Cloud's first hit of the day. Keithley came up with a two-out hit in the ninth to put the go-ahead runner in scoring position.
Ethan Mann (Dallas Baptist) scored the only run for St. Cloud in the sixth inning. Mann doubled to start off the inning and came around to score on a wild pitch to give the Rox a lead.
