The Grand Junction Rockies announced new front office moves and on-field leadership Thursday during a season ticket event at the Suplizio Field Hospitality Suite. The private event was open to all season ticket members, host families and sponsors.
The team introduced Joe Kubly as President of the Grand Junction Rockies. Joe brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the organization, especially in the area of sales and ticketing. The Forreston, Illinois native is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, with a M.S. degree in Sports Management. Kubly has worked in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks as well as working for Mandalay Baseball Properties with the Oklahoma City Dodgers, (AAA - Los Angeles Dodgers).
Most recently he has been with the Quad Cities River Bandits (Class A - Houston Astros) as Director of Sales and Ticketing. The Rockies also announced the promotion of Mick Ritter to Assistant General Manager. A Grand Junction native, Ritter has been with the Rockies for one and a half years managing the food and beverage departments. He will continue that role along with outside sales responsibilities as well.
Grand Junction will also begin the 2016 season with a new field manager, Frank Gonzales. Manager at Short-Season Class A Boise last season, Gonzales now begins his fourth season in the Colorado Rockies organization. The La Junta, CO native spent the two years prior to Boise as the Pitching Coach for Short-A Tri-City in Pasco, WA.
The former professional baseball player spent the majority of his eight year professional career in the Detroit Tigers organization. Frank Gonzales spent four years (2009-2012) as the head baseball coach at Ft. Collins High School and six years (1999-2005) with Colorado State University's club baseball team before joining the Rockies organization. He also played collegiately at Colorado State University and is the father of Marco Gonzales, a pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization.
