Brockton Rox News Release
BROCKTON-The Brockton Rox announced today the adoption of Wrentham, MA native Ayla Brown, as its official "American Idol" candidate. This is the first time the Rox have adopted an American Idol wanna-be but Ayla has already established herself as an Idol to the Rox Organization and fans, and the team looks forward to celebrating her transition from "Rox Country" Idol, to hopefully the next "American Idol."
On the team's web site, www.brocktonrox.com, Ayla fans can find the latest information on the hit show which draws more than 19,000,000 viewers per episode. The Rox first "discovered" Ayla on June 25th, 2004 when she captivated a sellout crowd at Campanelli Stadium with her performance of the "Star Spangled Banner," prior to a game against the New Jersey Jackals. A senior at Nobles and Greenough School in Wrentham, MA, Ayla is the daughter of Massachusetts State Senator Scott Brown (R-Wrentham), and WCVB-TV reporter Gail Huff.
Brown first made an impression on Idol judges Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, and Simon Cowell during an open audition in Boston and so far has made it to the final 24 consisting of 12 female singers and 12 male. Ayla's progress will be tracked on a portion of the site called "Ayla Rox" where fans can look for show summaries, updates and American Idol news. In addition, the Rox will post "Idol Thoughts from Ayla," where the Idol hopeful will share some of her experiences on America's hottest television show. After the Rox first posted their "adoption" of Ayla on their site, they received this response from Ayla, "Dear Brockton Rox: This is Ayla. Thank you to you and the team for adopting me as your Idol. The competition will be tough. I hope I make it through a few rounds at least. Thanks again. Ayla"
Fans can email questions and comments directed to Ayla through the Rox at: Ayla@brocktonrox.com.
The Brockton Rox play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball and open their fifth season at Campanelli Stadium on Thursday, May 25th against the New Haven Cutters. Season tickets, mini-plans, and group outings are now on sale through the Rox Team Offices at (509) 55-7000.
