Brockton Rox News Release

BROCKTON - The Rox schedule will now feature seven additional home dates. The team will play a four-game series at home on July 1 through July 4. The July 4 game marks the second time in four seasons that the Rox have hosted home game on our nation's birthday. The other added home dates come in the way of a three-game series on August 12 through August 14.

These dates were added to the Rox home schedule after a Canadian-American League meeting held on April 27. At that meeting the Can-Am League Board of Directors voted to terminate the membership of the Bangor Lumberjacks. The action was taken in accordance with the by-laws of the league. The Bangor club had announced that they would not be able to operate for the 2005 season.

The members of the Can-Am League Board of Directors further voted that the league would operate an eighth team as a road team for the 2005 season. The team will be known as the Grays, a name taken from one of the inaugural Can-Am League teams of 1936. The schedule will remain intact with the Grays taking the place of the Lumberjacks. Games originally scheduled for Bangor will be played at the home of the team scheduled to be the visiting team. The Grays will be the home team for those games.

Commissioner Miles Wolff issued the following statement: "We are extremely sorry that Bangor will not be part of the league for 2005. We had many loyal fans in the city and we sincerely regret that the team is leaving. We have had several cities inquire about membership in the league, but because of the lateness of the Lumberjack announcement, the timing made it impossible to make a move this season. We fully expect to have a new member city for 2006 and are extremely excited about our prospects."
