September 12, 2003 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
Brockton Rox News Release
(Brockton, MA â September 12, 2003) Less than twenty-four hours removed from the franchise's first ever Championship, the Brockton Rox added depth by acquiring Rookie CF Chad Stewart from the Alexandria Aces of the Central League.
"Chad Stewart is a talented rookie outfielder that adds speed and flexibility to this team," explained Rox Owner Van Schley. "He can pinch-run, play all three outfield spots and he is a rookie with a year of experience."
Stewart played in 80 games for Alexandria this season and posted a .262 batting average with 4 triples and 12 stolen bases. He finished the season strong batting .312 in the month of August.
The Brockton Rox play their home games in the city of Brockton's new, state-of-the-art baseball facility, Campanelli Stadium adjacent to the Shaw's Center, a meeting and banquet facility. The club plays a 92-game schedule in the eight-team independent Northeast League.
