Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release
Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders raise the curtain on their 2004-05 home schedule tomorrow night at 7:05 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The Riders will face off against their arch rivals, the Clark Cup champion Waterloo Black Hawks, in the home opener.
While ticket sales for tomorrow night's game have been strong, seats are still available at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena tickets office. Tickets can be purchased in person at the ice arena or over the phone at (319) 261-4625. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days, including tomorrow. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee.
In anticipation of the home opener, RoughRiders' CEO Michael Reinsdorf expressed his gratitude to the community of Cedar Rapids for the support it has shown the team at the start of this, its sixth season.
"We want to personally thank our sponsors, season ticket holders, and all ticket purchasers for investing in the RoughRiders," said Reinsdorf. "We will endeavor to provide exceptional service and invite your feedback in ways to enhance our product."
The RoughRiders strong play so far this season should provide fans with plenty to cheer about. The Riders head into the home opener with a 2-0-1 record after playing their first three games of the season on the road.
Tomorrow's game is also the kick-off for a host of new promotions at Riders' games. Among them is the $5,000 Guaranty Bank Goal of the Game. At every home game this season, if a RoughRider goal is scored at the ten minute mark of the second period, one lucky fan will win $5,000. In addition, tomorrow night will also mark the first outing for the DTI Phun Phone Team. The DTI Phun Phone Team will take to the ice to throw free gifts into the stands and charge up ice arena fans at various times throughout the night.
"I want to thank our front office staff, coaches, and support personnel for their continued hard work in developing an entertaining product both on and off the ice," said Reinsdorf.
As they enter their sixth season, the RoughRiders have secured a place as one of the top organizations in the USHL. The Riders are one of just three teams to have reached the USHL playoffs each of the last four seasons and last year set a franchise record for wins in a season. The Riders are also annually among the league leaders in attendance, frequently drawing sellout crowds to the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
