Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release
Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will wear special edition tenth anniversary jerseys during their home games on March 7, 13 and 14 and then auction the jerseys off following the March 14 game to benefit the ALS Association Iowa Chapter, the RoughRiders announced today.
"We're very excited about both celebrating our tenth anniversary and at the same time working together with the ALS Association through the jersey auction," said RoughRiders Director of Corporate Partnerships Mark Meyer.
The RoughRiders will first wear the silver jerseys featuring the team's tenth anniversary logo this Saturday night when the Riders take on the Waterloo Black Hawks at 7:05 at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The Riders will also don the special edition sweaters on Friday, March 13 when they host the Fargo Force and for the final time on Saturday, March 14 when the Sioux City Musketeers visit the ice arena.
The jerseys will come off the players' backs and go up for bid in a live auction immediately following the March 14 game. Minimum bid is $125. Bids can be made using a major credit card.
The ALS Association it the only national not-for-profit health organization dedicated solely to the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerois (ALS), also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease." It covers all the bases- research, patient and community services, public education and advocacy- in providing help and hope to those facing the disease. The Iowa Chapter of the ALS Association raises funds to provide local patient services and support national ALS research and advocacy efforts.
The RoughRiders (30-11-5, 65 points) are in second place overall in the United States Hockey League. The Riders visit the Green Bay Gamblers tomorrow night and travel to Urbandale Friday evening to meet the Des Moines Buccaneers before returning home for Saturday night's match-up with the Black Hawks.
Tickets for all RoughRiders home games- including the March 7, 13 and 14 games- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or online at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days.
