Frisco RoughRiders News Release

Luis Mendoza (15-3) held the Rockhounds scoreless for six innings as the 'Riders shut out Midland, 6-0, Sunday evening at Dr Pepper Ballpark. With the victory Mendoza joined San Antonio's Josh Geer as the only 15 game winners in the Texas League.

For the second straight night the 'Riders posted a four run first inning to grab an early lead. The 'Riders sent nine batters to the plate and collected four hits in the inning. Chris Davis hit a two run double and a pair of runs scored on a fielding error in the inning.

Mendoza followed Doug Mathis' great performance on Saturday night with his own Sunday as he shut out the Rockhounds over six innings of work. Mendoza allowed just two hits while striking out five and walking one. Brennan Garr, Kea Kometani and Jorge Vasquez combined to hold the Rockhounds scoreless over the final three frames.

The 'Riders have now held the Rockhounds scoreless over their last 27 innings played posting three consecutive shutouts.

The RoughRiders extended their lead with solo home runs in the third and seventh innings. Davis hit his 11th in the third inning and Brandon Boggs hit his 17th in the seventh. Boggs led Frisco with three hits from the lead off spot and Davis was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Frisco and Midland return to action Monday night in the series finale at 7 p.m. Michael Schlact (3-1) starts for the 'Riders while the Rockhounds counter with Ben Fritz (10-11).
