Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Four different RoughRiders scored and Brady Hjelle made 34 saves as the host Riders defeated the Waterloo Black Hawks 4-1 Friday night.
The RoughRiders grabbed a 1-0 lead when David Boehm buried a Kyle Flanagan centering pass at 10:57 of the first period.
Doug Jones doubled the lead by jamming in a rebound at 15:43 of the second period.
A Brett Olson power play goal cut the Rider lead to 2-1 just 48 seconds into the third period. The Black Hawks were up 4-on-3 when Olson fired a one-timer past Hjelle from the left wing circle.
The Riders reestablished the two-goal lead at 9:37 of the third when Mike Seidel tipped in a Jones shot to make 3-1.
Tyler Thompson's empty goal with just over a minute remaining finished off the Waterloo.
