RoughRiders Players to Coach Cedar Rapids Hockey Association Mite Championship Game

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders players have teamed up with the Cedar Rapids Hockey Association to coach the contending teams in tomorrow evening's CRHA house league mite championship game at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

Three Riders players will serve as coaches of the Cedar Rapids Army mite team and three more Riders will be behind the bench of the Cedar Rapids Miami mites as those two teams contest the house league title at 5:15PM tomorrow.

"This is going to be really good for the kids in our hockey program," said Cedar Rapids Ice Arena Director of Hockey Operations and RoughRiders Assistant Coach Kevin Brooks. "The young hockey players in Cedar Rapids look up to the RoughRiders and to have the Riders there coaching means a lot to these young players. We're extremely thankful to all of the Riders players for making this effort."

In addition to coaching the two teams, Riders players will also be at the controls for a pregame light show and player introductions and will handle public address announcing chores throughout the game. RoughRiders will also be available to sign autographs during the game.

The RoughRiders (36-17-5, 77 points), approach the final weekend of the United States Hockey League regular season in third place in the USHL's East Division and still very much alive in a tight race for both the division title and the Anderson Cup regular season championship. The Riders play their final regular season home game Friday night at 7:05 against the Indiana Ice. Saturday night will see the Riders close out the campaign by travelling to Waterloo to battle the Black Hawks.
