RoughRiders Announce Fan's Choice Awards

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders held their tenth annual year-end banquet last night at A Touch of Class in Cedar Rapids. As part of the event, the Riders presented their Fan's Choice Awards, honors voted on by the team's fans.

Mike Seidel, one of the Riders' captains, led the honor roll as both the team's Most Valuable Player and Best Offensive Player. The full list of Fan's Choice Award winners follows.

Most Valuable Player: Mike Seidel

Best Defensive Player: Matt Donovan

Unsung Hero: Paul Phillips

Most Improved: Troy Grosenick

Fan Favorite: Jeff Costello

In addition, Donovan won the team's Community Service Award, while Nick Oddo received the Phil Weber Memorial Scholarship. Craig Daves was named Volunteer of the Year and Alissa Wanless was named Intern of the Year.

The RoughRiders (36-17-5, 77 points), enter the final weekend of the regular season in third place in the USHL's East Division and still very much alive in a tight race for both the division title and the Anderson Cup regular season championship. The Riders play their final regular season home game Friday night at 7:05 against the Indiana Ice. Saturday night will see the Riders close out the campaign by travelling to Waterloo to battle the Black Hawks.

Tickets to Friday evening's contest are available for just $5 to fans who donate a non-perishable food item as the Riders team up with KHAK, PODS Eastern Iowa and National American Miss Iowa Randina Elsner for a food drive to benefit the HACAP Food Reservoir. Subject to availability, fans can purchase one green zone ticket at the discounted rate for each food item donated. Food donations can be made and discounted tickets can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office.

The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or online at www.roughridershockey.com. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
