RoughRiders Announce 28-Man Roster

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders today announced a 28-player pre-season roster.

United States Hockey League rules require teams to drop down from 30 players (the total on the roster at the end of the Riders' June tryout camp) at the start of July. As part of their roster trim, the Riders traded forward Sean Dolan to the Chicago Steel.

Dolan, 18, was dealt in exchange for Chicago's fifth round choice in October's USHL Futures Draft. The Riders acquired Dolan last February in a trade with the Indiana Ice. Dolan scored two goals and added one assist in 23 games with the Riders. The Chesterfield, Missouri, native totaled 7 goals and thirteen points in 50 games between Cedar Rapids and Indiana last season.

Nine returnees from last year's squad remain on the RoughRiders' roster: forwards Jacob Cepis, Andy Miele and Ian Slater; defensemen Brett Dickinson, Sergei Kolosov, Evan Stephens, Kevin Wehrs and Scott Wietecha; and goaltender Pat McGann.

19 newcomers round out the roster: forwards Robin Bergman, David Boehm, Aaron Bogosian, Rob Bordson, Patt Cannone, David Grun, Doug Jones, Mike Seidel, Tomi Stahlhammar, Tyler Thompson, Casey Wellman, Tommy Wingels and Paul Zannette; defensemen Brett Barta, Tyler Kieffer, Scott Mathis and Matt Tomassoni; and goaltenders Mike Mosher and Pat Nagle.

Forwards Dan Sexton and Steve Sperry, both of whom made the team's preliminary roster following last month's tryout camp, did not make the 28-man roster.

The Riders will further reduce the roster to 23 just prior to the start of the 2006-07 regular season in early October.

The two-time defending East Division champion RoughRiders will open their eighth season in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, October 7 against the Green Bay Gamblers. 2006-07 season tickets are currently available through the RoughRiders' business office (247-0340). Fans who pay for season tickets in full before August 15 will receive a significant discount in addition to a host of other benefits available exclusively to season ticket holders.

Single game tickets will go on sale on a date to be determined in September.
