Roughnecks Win 4-0 over Tacoma Defiance
March 23, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Roughnecks were back at home this weekend when they played host to the Tacoma Defiance. Shortly after the game began, Roughnecks Captain, Cyprian Hedrick found the back of the net in the 8th minute putting Tulsa on the board. We would see the Roughnecks find the back of the net twice more before the half would finish with goals from Luca Lobo and Cristhian Altamirano.
After the whistle blew to begin the second half, Luca Lobo scored his second goal of the evening and put the Roughnecks up 4-0. Out of the eleven goals scored by the Roughnecks this season, eight of them have been from set pieces. In fact, the set pieces have been the Roughnecks bread & butter this season and it does not appear they'll be slowing down anytime soon. Despite the home team only maintaining 38% possession throughout the game we would see the game end 4-0 in favor of the Roughnecks.
"For the next game, we'll continue what we're doing. We want to score more goals from open play and work on our timing in the midfield. We have to rest up, it's been a hard three games in seven days. We always felt like if we get six or seven points out of it, it was a job well done- and we got six points, "said Michael Nsien (Head Coach), "Now we'll have a chance to rest up and train for our game next Friday and we'll be at our best."
The Tulsa Roughnecks will be back in action next Friday, March 29th at ONEOK Field when they take on the Rio Grande FC.
