Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks took down the Panther City Lacrosse Club 12-5 Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The first quarter saw a strong defensive effort from both teams with Jesse King and Kyle Waters each netting one for the Roughnecks, whilst Panther City scored a lone goal. The Roughnecks continued a streak of five goals into the second, which saw Waters find the back of the net again alongside Tanner Cook and Haiden Dickson, as well as a short-handed goal from King. Panther City closed out the first half with a single goal to leave the game at 6-2 heading into half time.
Panther City continued to find the net to start the third with two goals in quick succession, before Tyler Pace extended Calgary's lead with two of his own. The visitors were unable to complete a comeback in the final frame, adding just one goal whilst the Roughnecks added four goals to take a solid lead. Shane Simpson and Josh Currier netted their first goals of the evening, with Tanner cook adding one and Jesse King completing his hat trick with a power play goal.
Jesse King (3g, 3a), Tyler Pace (2g, 4a) and Tanner Cook (2g, 4a) all ended the night with six points. Dan Taylor had three assists, whilst Zach Currier scooped 12 loose balls and caused three turnovers. Christian Del Bianco was solid in the Calgary net, stopping 30 of 35 shots. The Roughnecks outshot Panther City 46-35.
