Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks today signed transition player Nolan Heavenor to a one-year deal.

Heavenor was acquired by the Riggers from the Minnesota Swarm in exchange for the Roughnecks 2nd round (23rd overall) and third round (31st overall) picks in the 2006 NLL entry draft.

"Nolan is a very versatile player who will give us options on the right side," said 'Necks General Manager, Kurt Silcott. "He is valuable at both ends of the floor and can also help Devan Wray by taking the occasional face-off."

Silcott continued, "We plan to use Kaleb Toth is a different way in 2007, and we believe that Nolan's unique abilities will click with Kaleb's game and, through rapid transition, they will create extra goal scoring opportunities."

Heavenor played in five games for Minnesota in 2006, collecting 4 points (3g, 1a) and 14 loose balls.

During the summer, he was part of the Victoria Shamrocks squad that reached the final of the Mann Cup.

Heavenor, 24, is 5ft. 9in. and 180 lbs. He is a native of Victoria, B.C.
