Roughnecks Host OC Blues Tonight at ONEOK Field

After a weekend off, the Roughnecks return to the ONEOK Field pitch for two matches in three days. The action begins Thursday night when the Roughnecks host the Orange County Blues. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm in downtown Tulsa.

On Thursday, Tulsa hosted 2014 USL Champs Sacramento and dropped a 3-1 decision to the Republic.

It will be the second and final meeting of the regular season between the two sides. Bardsley's goal came in the 59th minute when he headed in a corner from Chad Bond.

The Roughnecks enter the match with a total of 15 points (4-8-3) this season and in 11t h place in the Western Conference standings. The Blues come in with 22 points (7-7-1), sitting in seventh place in the West only one place from a playoff spot.

The match is presented by 2 Works For You and 92.1 The Beat. Original Roughnecks legend Victory Moreland will be on the stadium concourse from 6:45-7:30PM to sign autographs, take photos and visit with fans. Moreland was a member of the Roughnecks 1983 championship squad. It is also a Thirsty Thursday with 16-ounce soft drinks and 16-ounce Bud and Bud Lights on sale for only $2 each. In addition, from 6:30-7:30PM, it will be Modelo Happy Hour with Modelos on sale, 2 for $5.

The game will be broadcast live on Tulsa's Sports Radio AM 1300 with Jeremie Poplin and David Saunders calling the action. The broadcast can be heard online at 1300TheBuzz.com. It will also be shown live on the Roughnecks YouTube channel.

BLUES - Orange County lost a 2-0 result in Arizona on Sunday, but will enter the match with wins in two of its last three games. The Blues edged Vancouver 3-2 on June 27 and blanked Oklahoma City 1-0 on July 1.

OC is led offensively by Didier Crettenand and Christofer Ramirez who have scored six goals each. Crettenand, a native of Switzerland, has added three assists to lead the squad with 15 total points.

In goal, Pepe Miranda has started 14 of 15 games this season, compiling a 1.43 GAA.

THE ROUGHNECKS - Tulsa has dropped its last two matches, a 3-1 loss at home to Sacramento and a 4-2 defeat to Los Angeles Galaxy II at ONEOK Field. The last result for the Roughnecks came on June 21 when they got a point with a 1-1 draw in Austin. Sacramento is tied for first in the Western Conference with 30 points, while Los Dos is tied for third with 29. Austin is one of only three sides that Tulsa has played this season who currently has a losing record.

COMPARING THE 2 SIDES - The Roughnecks and Blues have each played 15 games this season. OC has scored 20 goals while surrendering 22. In contrast, Tulsa has netted 18 goals and given up 27.

The Roughnecks have generated 200 shots compared to 178 for the Blues.

BALANCED SCORING - Bardsley leads the Roughnecks with four goals this campaign. After Bardsley, there are four players with two goals each. The group includes Sammy Ochoa, Lucas Cordeiro, Steven Miller and Adam Black. Cordeiro tops the club with four assists.

THE COACHES - Tulsa head coach David Irving was a player for the original Roughnecks in the old North America Soccer League. Irving scored three goals in seven appearances for Tulsa during the 1980 NASL season. His professional playing career also included stints with Everton FC and Sheffield United in England.

Orange County is led by Oliver Wyss. The Switzerland native is in his first year in charge of the Blues.
