Roughnecks Home Opener Kicks Off 7:00 PM Saturday

CALGARY, AB - After the Roughnecks warm up with their season opener against the Stealth in San Jose tonight, they will be returning to Calgary to face-off against their provincial rivals, the Edmonton Rush. The Battle of Alberta begins at 7:00 MST at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
The home opener will be the first of three games between the Roughnecks and Rush this season. The January 10th match will be the only game out of the three on home turf.
Last season, the Calgary Roughnecks went head-to-head with the Rush three times in the regular season. Their first meeting was April 5 in Edmonton where the Roughnecks were defeated 11-9. The Roughnecks answered a week later on April 12 by crushing the Rush 18-7. At the end of April, the two teams met for the last time in the 2008 season, with the Roughnecks claiming a 12-8 victory.
In pre-season action this past December, the Roughnecks continued their play from last year, toppling the Rush 10-5 for the win.
Fans should be prepared for a heated Battle of Alberta which is sure to keep them on the edge of their seats.
