Roughnecks Fall to Black Wolves in Overtime

Uncasville, CT - New England forward Johnny Powless (2g) was the overtime hero, netting his second goal of the contest 47 seconds into the extra session to lift the Black Wolves to a 13-12 win against the Calgary Roughnecks.

Calgary held the advantage with 6-5 heading into the halftime break and the teams kept it close, each scoring a trio of goals in the third quarter. Stephan Leblanc netted a goal for New England with just seven seconds left in regulation to force the game into overtime.

Wesley Berg (3g, 5a), who opened scoring for the Roughnecks with a power play goal, was Calgary's leading offensive performer, scoring a hat-trick and adding five helpers for a total of eight points. Dane Dobbie (3g, 4a) was next with seven points, matching Berg's three goals and adding four assists. Holden Cattoni (3g, 2a) and Curtis Dickson (2g, 3a) were the other top point producers for the Roughnecks tallying five points each. Cattoni scoring a hat-trick and a pair of assists, while Dickson sunk two power play goals and three assists. Mitch Wilde (1g,1a) chipped in one goal and one assist to round out the scoring for Calgary who outshot New England 53-46.

Callum Crawford (5g, 2a) led the Black Wolves with seven points, including a power play goal and a shorthanded goal, while Kevin Crowley (3g, 3a) was next with six points, netting a pair of shorthanded goals for the home team. Stephan Leblanc (1g, 3a) and Kyle Buchanan (4a) were also key cogs for New England with four points each.

Roughnecks goaltender Christian Del Bianco stood tall between the pipes surpassing 500 career saves, stopping 33 attempts in today's contest.

The Roughnecks are set to battle the Buffalo Bandits next Saturday, Apr. 14, when they welcome the East Division rivals to the Scotiabank Saddledome for the Fan Appreciation Night.
