Calgary Roughnecks News Release
CALGARY, AB- Part two of the Battle of Alberta back-to-back matchup is set to rock the Pengrowth Saddledome this Friday as the Calgary Roughnecks (1-3) take on provincial rivals, the Edmonton Rush (3-1). Game time is 7:30 p.m. MST and will be broadcast on NLL.com.
"We love that we get to face our last competition immediately after this past weekend in our home rink," said Head Coach Dave Pym. "It will be an intense contest which can`t come soon enough."
The Riggers are seeking revenge after a 14-11 loss to the Rush at Rexall Place last Saturday. Goals by Kaleb Toth (2g, 2a), Josh Sanderson (2g, 5a), Dane Dobbie (2g, 3a), Scott Ranger (2g), Tracey Kelusky (2g, 3a) and Jeff Moleski (1g, 1a) were not enough to see the Roughnecks come out on top.
Fans and players alike have started a Calgary-Edmonton rivalry. Toth and Rush's Ian Crashley battled it out Saturday night, but the fighting between the two teams did not end there. The rivalry continues tomorrow night, this time on the Riggers' home turf.
Friday will be goaltender Mike Poulin's first game as a Rigger. The club recently acquired him from the Boston Blazers in exchange for Calgary's first round draft pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. Chris Levis will be suiting up for the Colorado Mammoth this weekend after being traded in exchange for Colorado's second round pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft.
The Roughnecks were 3-0 against the Rush in regular season action last year. The Riggers also defeated the Rush 15-12 in an exhibition matchup in Lethbridge in December.
"Friday night is going to be the start of our winning streak," said defender Bruce Codd. "We are looking to get back in the W column as we don't want to fall too far out of the division race."
Friday is themed "Michael Jackson Tribute Night". For tickets to the game, visit Ticketmaster.ca or call 403-294-9244.
