
Roughnecks Defeat Rush 9-8

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks opened the Battle of Alberta weekend with a 9-8 win over the West Division-leading Edmonton Rush on Friday at the Scotiabank Saddledome, snapping Edmonton's five-game winning streak.
Led by four goals from Curtis Dickson and a trio of markers from Shawn Evans, the Roughnecks built quarter leads of 3-1, 5-3 and 8-3 en route to their second straight home win of the season. Jeff Shattler and Geoff Snider, who won 13 of 20 faceoffs, also scored for Calgary who improves to 5-10 on the season and now sits third in the West Division.
Frankie Scigliano picked up the win between the pipes, making 41 saves in a first-star performance, while the Roughnecks defensive unit helped hold the Rush to just three goals through the first 45 minutes.
The home-and-home series wraps up tomorrow, Saturday, Apr. 11, when the Roughnecks travel to Edmonton to face the Rush (9-5) in 7:00 p.m. start at Rexall Place.
