
Roughnecks clinch spot in 2021-22 NLL Playoffs

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks defeated the Vancouver Warriors 15-13 Saturday night at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, taking the three-game regular season series between the two teams 2-1. With the win tonight, the Roughnecks are now headed to the 2021-22 NLL Playoffs, sitting third in the West Division.
After a slow start to the game with no goals in the first eight minutes, Tyler Pace notched one to kick off a scoring spree from both teams. It was goal-for-goal through the rest of the first with Dan Taylor, Zach Herreweyers and Shane Simpson scoring for Calgary. Jesse King scored three unanswered goals in the second for the Roughnecks, who briefly pulled ahead 7-4 before Vancouver matched with five of their own including three from Keegan Bal.
Heading into the second half at 9-9, Calgary added three unanswered goals at the end of the third and maintained the lead with final goals from Zach Herreweyers and Zach Currier in the fourth.
Tyler Pace led Calgary in offensive play with seven points (3g, 4a) whilst Jesse King led the scoring with four goals. Daniel Taylor and Zach Herreweyers added two goals to the total, with Eli Salama, Harrison Matsuoka, Shane Simpson and Zach Currier each adding one a piece. Keegan Bal was the top performer for the Warriors with six goals and three assists.
Christian Del Bianco made 33 saves off 46 shots, with Calgary outshooting the Warriors 55-46.
With the win tonight, Calgary also takes home the Alterna Cup as Canada's best team, with a 6-1 record against Canadian teams this Season.
The Roughnecks are on the road again next weekend, taking on the Knighthawks in Rochester on Friday, April 22nd. Fans can stream the game on TSN Direct starting at 5pm MST.
Calgary's final home game of the regular season is set for Saturday April 30 in a match up with the Colorado Mammoth, and fans will be spoilt all night long for the Fan Appreciation Party.
