Roughnecks Acquire Former Corpus Christi WR Nathaniel Dunn, Sign DB Braelon Davis

MIDLAND, TX. : The West Texas Roughnecks announced on Friday morning, April 9, that the organization has acquired former Corpus Christi Hammerheads wide out Nathaniel Dunn and former West Texas A&M defensive back Braelon Davis.

Dunn (6'5", 265 lbs.) was released by the Hammerheads back on March 16, 2010 and spent the last five seasons playing with the Hammerheads organization. Prior to being released, Dunn was third on the Hammerheads receiving core with six receptions for 53 yards in two games played in 2010. In 2009, Dunn finished second on the team with 35 receptions for 575 yards and 14 touchdown receptions. Dunn led the Hammerheads in 2009 by averaging 16.4 yards a reception and averaging 44.2 receiving yards a game. Dunn additionally finished third on the Hammerheads roster with 588 all-purpose yards. Defensively, Dunn recorded 9.5 tackles (eight solo, three assisted) in 2009 and finished in the top five in receiving for every season he was with the Hammerheads. Dunn played collegiately at Cisco Junior College before beginning his professional indoor football career with the Hammerheads.

Defensive back Braelon Davis (6'0", 175 lbs.) transferred from Baylor to West Texas A&M following his 2006 season with the Bears program. In 2008, while at West Texas A&M, Davis finished seventh on the team with 43 total tackles in 13 games played. Davis posted one tackle-for-loss, two interceptions, five pass break-ups and one fumble recovery. In 2006, while at Baylor, Davis posted eight tackles in 11 games played along with two pass break-ups and three fumble recoveries. Davis missed the 2005 season due to a knee injury following an impressive 2004 campaign as a redshirt freshman.

In 2004, Davis was named to the Sporting News All-Big 12 Freshman Team after posting 24 total tackles and seven multi-tackle efforts in 11 games. Davis posted a career-high five tackles and his first career interception against No. 16 Texas A&M. Davis recorded the Big 12 Conference's first 2004 defensive two-point conversion by returning a 100-yard interception back for a score against Iowa State. Davis was also named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week back on September 27, 2004 for blocking a punt and recovering it for a touchdown against North Texas.

Davis played at Dallas Carter High School where he posted 66 tackles and tied for the team lead with five interceptions in 2002. Davis was awarded third-team 5A all-state honors by the Texas Sports Writers Association. Davis was named one of the Metroplex's top 100 prospects by the Dallas Morning News following his senior season.
