Calgary Roughnecks News Release

CALGARY, AB - The Calgary Roughnecks captured the Western Division title this past weekend with a tight 14-13 victory over the Edmonton Rush. The impressive 11-4 record this season not only sits the Roughnecks atop the league, but gives them their only first place finish in the league since the team's inauguration into the NLL in 2001.

With only one game left on tap this weekend, the Calgary Roughnecks record is virtually untouchable with only the Buffalo Bandits being able to catch the Calgary squad.

Although a Buffalo win and a Roughnecks loss would tie the Bandits with Calgary, the Roughnecks would ultimately win the tie breaker.

The tie breaker between Calgary and Buffalo is their record against a common team both have played, in which case is Minnesota. The Roughnecks secured a 2-0 record against the Swarm, while Buffalo ended up with 1-1 this season.

The Roughnecks take on the Lumberjax Friday night in an 8:30 p.m. MT showdown in their last regular season game of 2009 at Portland's Rose Garden.
