"My father past away after a long battle with Leukemia when I was 15 years old and I was diagnosed with a form of cancer known as Hodgkin's Disease when I was 18. I was told several times during my treatment that five to ten years before I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease that it was not very curable, but due to the research that had been funded by organizations like the American Cancer Society, the cure rate for Hodgkin's Disease went up substantially and that is why I am here today as a survivor. I hope that in some small way the Roughnecks can help give someone else the opportunity to enjoy their lives after they are diagnosed with cancer." stated Odessa Roughnecks General Manager, Harold Fuller.

Representatives from the hospital also exemplified during the press conference brand new equipment that has become available to help further develop cancer research.

"The American Cancer Society and the Odessa Roughnecks have worked together in the past and once again we are absolutely honored to be working together for this upcoming game. It means so much to not only the American Cancer Society but to the Permian Basin Community that the Odessa Roughnecks are supporting our development of cancer research." stated American Cancer Society Representative, Emery Blanton.
