
Rough Riders Roster Continuing to Take Shape

Peoria Rough Riders Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Chuck Goodwin is proud to announce the additions of LB Simon Chandler and LB/FB Al Ross to the 2006 roster.
Simon Chandler, a 6'4" LB, will bring experience to the team and will be looked upon to be a key component of the Rough Riders defense. The former Western Illinois Leatherneck was a member of the af2 Louisville Fire in 2003 and went to training camp with the CFL Toronto Argonaunts in 1995. Simon has also had tryouts with the XFL Chicago Enforcers, AFL Detroit Fury, AFL Indiana Firebirds and AFL Iowa Barnstormers. Chandler has spent the previous to season in the Mid States Football League with the Illinois Force and the Lake County Chiefs. Off the field Simon has appeared on the silver screen as well. Along with former Peoria Pirates DB Jay Buchanan, Simon appeared in the film "Save the Last Dance" starring Julia Stiles.
Joining Chandler is Al Ross, a 6'3" 275lbs FB/LB. Ross played college ball at Northern Illinois University. Prior to joining the Huskies Ross attended and played football at Joliet Junior College. Al excelled for the Wolves earning Conference Player of the Year honors for the North Central Community College Conference (N4C) and was named NJCAA 1st Team All-American in 1998. Ross has played semi-pro ball for the past five years suiting up for the Cook County Punishers, Windy City Buccaneers, and the Force of Illinois, He was named a Semi Pro All-American in 2004.
