It was an old fashioned shootout in the first half as Peoria matched Sioux City score for score. Once again Robinson returned Butler's kickoff to near midfield. Three plays later the Riders had chewed up 34 yards and Robinson blasted off end twisting and breaking tackles for the score. Russell's extra point attempt was good and the Riders were up 14-3.
After a Sioux City QB Jarrod DeGeorgia to Fred Butler bomb drawing the Bandits to within 4 made if 14-10 Riders; Russell drilled a field goal from 33 yards out to keep the margin at a touchdown making the score 17 â 10 Riders.
