Rough Riders Jason VanLoo Named Defensive Player of the Week

United Indoor Football is proud to announce Players-of-the-Week awards for Week 15 of the 2005 season. Weekly awards are presented in three categories: Offense, Defense, and Special Teams.

Jason VanLoo of Peoria is the recipient of the Week 15 Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor. The 6'3", 250 pound linebacker recorded three solo tackles and 14 assisted tackles, including three for a loss, in a 56-35 loss to the Fort Wayne Freedom last week. Vanloo, a Central Missouri graduate, also logged 1.5 sacks. Vanloo and the Rough Riders host the Evansville Bluecats on Saturday, July 16, 2005. The Rough Riders are offering half price tickets for their remaining 2 games on July 16th and 23rd.

VanLoo made his debut in week seven against Tennessee Valley. Jason made an immediate impact dishing out big hits and providing the defense with a much-needed spark and has worked at times at the defensive end position. Week 14 saw VanLoo lead the team in tackles with nine while adding 2 sacks. On the season he has a total of 57.5 tackles, second on the team, and leads the team with 12 tackles for a loss and 8 quarterback sacks.

Jason Vanloo 6-3 249-pound linebacker from Jefferson City MO. During his senior year at Central Missouri State University, Vanloo was named to D2Football.com All-American team. Vanloo led the Mules and MIAA in tackles with 124 (11.3 per game). He also shared the conference lead with three fumbles recoveries and added 8.5 tackles for losses, and interception, two pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. His tackle total was the fourth highest in school history, as he became the first Mule to record 100+ tackles since 1998.
