Peoria Rough Riders Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Chuck Goodwin is proud to announce the signings of QB Korey Gilbert, FB Carmouche Avery and OS/DS Ricky Williams to the 2006 roster
Gilbert, a 5'11", 200 lb Quarterback from Concordia will join the team when training camp begins on March 10th. The St. Louis native played under Rough Riders Head Coach Chuck Goodwin at Illinois Valley Central College. While at IVCC Gilbert was named Player of the Year and was a 1st Team all N4C Conference selection. Korey transferred from IVCC to Concordia University where he led the team in tackles and interceptions his junior year. Gilbert left Concordia to enter the NFL Draft in 2002. Korey also brings indoor football experience to the team having played in the National Indoor Football League with the Lacrosse Night Train (2001-02) and the River City Rage (2003).
Coach Goodwin has also signed Full Back Carmouche (Car-moosh) Avery and Offensive/Defensive specialist Ricky Williams. Avery comes to the Rough Riders after spending the past two seasons with the Semi-Pro Team Chicago Thunder.
Chicago Thunder teammate Ricky Williams will join Avery on the 2006 Rough Riders roster. While with the Thunder, Williams played every offensive position except offensive line. Williams attended Williams Rainey Harper Junior College playing quarterback, running back and linebacker for the Hawks in 2001. Williams forced two fumbles and had an interception in the 2001 NJCAA Dixie Rotary Bowl.

- The Peoria Rough Riders will hold their second open player tryout on Friday, January 27 at the Morton Soccer Forum. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the tryout beginning at 11:00a.m. Everyone trying out is invited to lunch afterwards at Sully's Downtown Pub in Peoria. Cost is $30 if registering before the 27th and $40 cash only the day of the tryout.
