Brockton, Mass. - Jonathan Rosenberger (Newberry) spun a gem in Thursday night's regular season finale to propel the Brockton Rox to a 6-2 victory over the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide at Campanelli Stadium in Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) action.

Rosenberger (4-2) chalked up 10 strikeouts in six innings while allowing just one run on four hits. Frank Fantino (Southern New Hampshire) followed suit with two scoreless innings in which he conceded just one hit and one walk while striking out two.

Brockton (30-23) jumped out to an early, 2-0, lead, before Old Orchard Beach (23-30) came back to cut the deficit to one in the sixth inning. However, the hosts used to a three-run seventh inning to pull away from the Raging Tide late in the game en route to their fourth-straight win. With the win, the red-hot Rox have now been victorious in 13 of their last 17 contests.

Nine different Brockton batters recorded hits on the evening, including Nick Colucci (Boston College), who led the way with a 2-for-5 performance that included two runs scored. Mike Lupia (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) and Joe Gallub (Concordia) came up with clutch at-bats for the Rox, as the duo finished with two RBIs apiece to spearhead the offense.

Matt Verrier (Southern Maine) and Chris Bernard (Southern Maine) each finished with RBI singles for Old Orchard Beach, while Jason Vosler (Northeastern) and Grayson Porter (Baylor) each went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Cole Bryant (Southern Connecticut) suffered the loss (1-2) for the Raging Tide after scattering two runs on seven hits and a walk in five innings of work.

With the regular season in the books, the Rox open a best-of-three series with top-seeded Nashua Silver Knights in the semifinals of the 2012 Futures Collegiate Baseball League Playoffs at Campanelli Stadium on Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
