North Shore Navigators Name Players of the Year

LYNN, MASS. - The North Shore Navigators, member of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, announced today there will be three team MVP's for this season. The players have voted Brad Elwood, Tim Hendricks, and Joe Gruntkosky as their team's most valuable players this year.

Brad Elwood is a sophomore standout at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. Elwood hit .305 while leading the team in games played (48), at-bats (200), Runs (37), Hits (61), Doubles (12) and Triples (3). One game where Elwood especially stood out was in a game on July 20th against the Brockton Rox. Elwood went three for five with three runs scored and two RBI including two doubles.

Tim Hendricks is also a sophomore at Benedictine University in Illinois. Henricks hit a team second best .331 for the season and led the Navigators in RBI with 24 on the year. A game where Hendricks especially stood out was on June 21st against Old Orchard Beach where he went three for six with an RBI and two Runs scored including the game-winning run to win 5-4.

Joe Gruntkosky is another sophomore standout from St. Joe's, ME by way of Peabody, Mass. Gruntkosky finished the year with a 3-1 record, while leading the team in starters ERA (1.85), starts (9), innings pitched (53.2). He also finished third on the team in strikeouts with 37. A notable game for Gruntkosky was July 22nd against Martha's Vineyard when he threw seven innings of shutout baseball striking out five and receiving the win.
