Roper Sets Records

New Jersey Cardinals News Release


On Saturday, June 19th, at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, New York, against the Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay Devil Rays), New Jersey Cardinals pitcher Derek Roper set a new team single-game strikeout record. Roper struck out 13 over 5 innings to break the previous record of 12 which was held by Rhett Parrott (8/24/01) and Brian Flynn (8/30/02). Roper faced only 17 batters en route to collecting his first victory of the season. He allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run in the Cardinals 3-1 win.

The New Jersey Cardinals are back in action tonight at Skylands Park when they take on the Hudson Valley Renegades at 5:15. The first 1250 fans will receive a free magnet schedule courtesy of Miller Lite. Additionally, all fathers get in free and the first 1000 kids receive a deli sandwich courtesy of Shoprite and Black Bear Cold Cuts. Postgame, families can play catch on the field and Dads can take batting practice.
