(Salisbury, MD)--Niuman Romero lined an RBI single in the eighth inning Sunday, capping a three-run rally, and lifting the Captains to a 4-3 victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds at Perdue Stadium.

The victory gave the Captains three consecutive wins for the first time since April 22-24. The Captains (10-8) took three of four games in the weekend series at Delmarva.

The Captains trailed 3-1 entering the eighth inning, but loaded the bases against lefty Trevor Caughey (1-1). Caughey was lifted for reliever Dan Lonsberry, who recorded the second out on a fielder's choice by P.J. Hiser. Matt Fornasiere followed with an infield hit up the middle that drove in Josh Noviskey and Mike Conroy to tie the game.

The next hitter was Romero, who entered the game in a 1-26 slump. Romero slapped a single to left, his second of the game, to score Hiser for a 4-3 lead.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Shorebirds (5-12) threatened to tie the game against Jason Schutt when Lorenzo Scott singled to right with two on and two out. Kyle Dahlberg attempted to score from second, but Juan Valdes threw a strike to the plate to retire Dahlberg for the final out of the inning.

Matt Davis worked a perfect ninth for his 19th save, and his second in as many games. He made a winner of Mark Jecmen (4-2) who tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief for the win.

After an off-day Monday, the Captains will begin an eight-game homestand on Tuesday night at 7:05 at Classic Park. For tickets, call 440-954-WINS.
