
Rome Splits Doubleheader

Rome, GA -The Rome Braves and the Bowling Green Hot Rods split a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in front of 3,301 fans at State Mutual Stadium.
In game one, the Braves defeated the Hot Rods 6-4 in come from behind fashion. Bowling Green had a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the second when Rome rallied for three runs on three hits to make it a 4-3 game. Jahdiel Santamaria and Luis Sumoza each had RBI singles in the inning. In the fourth Rome took the lead with two runs on an RBI single by Jesus Sucre and a RBI sacrifice fly by Samuel Sime. An insurance run was added in the fifth on a Calvin Culver solo home run for the final 6-4 score.
Randall Delgado (1-3) was the winning pitcher for Rome in game one, while Frank De Los Santos (1-2) picked up the loss for Bowling Green. Craig Kimbrel earned his first save of the season for the Braves.
In game two, Bowling Green bounced back for the 3-2 win. The Hot Rods scored one run in the third to make it a 1-0 game as Robi Estrada scored on an error by Chais Fuller. In the fifth Bowling Green added two more on two run homer by Tim Beckham giving them the 3-0 lead. The Braves scored two runs in the seventh on an RBI double by Fuller, and an RBI sacrifice fly by Joel Campusano, but it was not enough as the Hot Rod bullpen was able to hold on for the 3-2 win.
In game two Chris Andujar (3-2) was the winning pitcher for the Hot Rods, while J.J. Hover got the loss for the Braves. Jamie Bagley earned his sixth save for Bowling Green.
