Rogues Win Fourth Straight

MEDFORD, OR - The Rogues took a commanding hold of their four game series against the Elks as they managed to escape with a slim 2-1 tonight at Harry and David Field. With the win, the Rogues now sit with a 3-0 lead in the series with Medford looking to sweep the four game series tomorrow night.

The Rogues had three new players on the field for them today with LHP David Peterson, OF Christian Cox and catcher Tanner Lubach all making their Rogues debuts in front of 846 enthusiastic fans. Peterson (0-1), who decided to forego being drafted by the Boston Red Sox in order to attend the University of Oregon in the fall, pitched five innings for the Rogues. He ended the night with four hits, one run, three batters walked, and one strike out.

Cox and Lubach, who both play the University of Nebraska, each had solid outings for the Rogues at right field and catcher respectively. Cox ended the game with only one at bat but had four putouts defensively for the Rogues. Lubach had three at bats for one run and one hit to end with a .333 batting average. On defense, Lubach recorded two assists and three putouts.

The Rogues were outhit by the Elks 6-4 but 3B E.J. Lopez and LF Blaine Tanner each knocked in a run to give Medford a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning. A single run by Bend in the top of the fifth ended the scoring for the game.

Austin Guzzon (0-1) took the loss for the Elks while Matt Loeffler picked up the save for Medford, his second of the season.

Shortstop Yuto Kata still leads the team with his batting average of .444 and had four at bats for one hit tonight. Kata had four assists to increase his team leading amount to 16 for the season so far and also leads in putouts with nine.

The Rogues meet the Elks for the final game of their four game series and will be looking for a complete four game sweep of their opponents. The game starts at 6:35p.m. tomorrow night at Harry and David Field.
