MEDFORD, OR - In his first home game for the Rogues, infielder Jared Casper hit two home runs totaling four RBIs to lead Medford to a 5-3 win, completing a two-game sweep of the Central Oregon Bucks.
Casper's first home run came in the first inning with a man on base and tied the game at two.
After falling behind 3-2 again in the second inning, Rogues infielder Jake Whisler stole home plate to tie the game again heading into the fourth inning.
In the fifth inning with a man on second, Casper got his second two-run homer, giving the Rogues their first lead of the day.
Casper finished the night hitting 2-for-4 with four RBIs while infielder Connor George hit 2-for-4. Whisler ended the hit 2-for-2 with a run and a stolen base.
Rogues starter Jake Lessel pitched four innings, allowing three runs on four hits with five strikeouts. After allowing three runs in the first two innings, Medford would go on to pitch seven scoreless innings.
Casper continued to shine for the Rogues in the eighth inning this time as a pitcher. Casper faced three batters striking out all three to end the inning. Medford infielder A.J. Balta earned the save coming in to close in the end.
With the win the Rogues improve to 16-13 overall and will return to West Coast League play against the Bend Elks on Friday night at 7:35 p.m.
