Rogues Down Central Oregon 7-2

MEDFORD, OR - Five runs in the second inning pushed the Rogues to a 7-2 victory over non-league opponent the Central Oregon Bucks in the first game of a two game series at Harry and David Field.

Infielder Corey Wynant had a two run single in the second inning giving Medford a 6-0 lead heading into the third inning of play. Infielder Matt Page added to the lead later in the game hitting his first home run of the season for the Rogues to take a 7-1 lead.

Outfielder Spencer Smith finished the night going 2-for-4 with a run while Wynant went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Outfielder Danny McNabb and catcher Niko Pacheco each added one RBI of their own.

In his first start of the season, Rogues pitcher John Forsythe pitched six full innings of play recording only five hits, two and two walks while totaling 10 strikeouts. The Rogues set a team recording 16 strikeouts on the night.

With the non-league win, the Rogues improve to 15-13 overall on the season and will continue West Coast League play on Friday against the Bend Elks.

Tomorrow's game will be an early start in the last game of the series against Central Oregon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.

The West Coast League is an 11-team collegiate wood-bat baseball league composed of the best college players, coaches, facilities and operators in the industry. Ranging from Medford, Oregon north to Kelowna, B.C., the league has operated as the WCL since 2005. In 2012, a league record 57 WCL players were selected in the Major League draft.
