
Rodriguez Captures June Honors

DURHAM, N.C. â Québec centerfielder Carlos Rodriguez has been named the Rawlings Northeast League Player of the Month for June.
Rodriguez, who turned 26 last month, signed June 2 with Les Capitales after being released by the Boston Red Sox. He went 35-for-108 (.324) with 23 runs, six doubles, one triple, 12 home runs and 32 runs batted in. He also walked 12 times, stole three bases, recorded a .731 slugging percentage and posted a .408 on-base percentage in the month. Despite starting 11 days after the rest of the league, Rodriguez leads the league in homers, RBIs and slugging percentage. He won back-to-back Daktronics Northeast League Player of the Week honors on June 8 and June 15.
Québec signed Rodriguez after his five-year stint with the Red Sox in which he compiled a .251 batting average, 66 homers, 298 RBIs and 77 stolen bases over 1,988 at bats in rookie and Single-A ball. He was an 11th-round choice of Boston out of the University of Louisville in 1998.
