
Bears Watch Riversharks Win, 12-3, and Clinch

NEWARK, N.J., July 2-The Camden Riversharks hit four home runs and had fourteen hits in total as they defeated the Newark Bears, 12-3, Wednesday night at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium. With the win, the Riversharks (36-21) clinched the first-half south division championship in the Atlantic League.
With Camden leading 3-2 in the fourth inning, shortstop Jesus Azuaje hit a two-out, two-run home run, his first of the season, and the Riversharks never looked back. They would score two more runs in the 5th inning, four in the sixth and one more in the 7th to finish off Newark. Azuaje went 2-5 with the home run, a double and 2 RBI on the night.
Center fielder Dwight Maness of Camden was 2-4 with a home run, his 8th, a double, a walk, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Catcher Francisco Morales had four singles in 5 at-bats and scored two runs. Brad Strauss and Bryon Gainey each homered for the Riversharks.
Newark was led by Rickey Henderson, who hit a two-run home run, his eighth of the season, in the 3rd inning. Henderson, who now has an eight-game hitting streak, was 1-3 on the night. Francisco Lebron was 2-3 and had an RBI single in the 6th inning.
Matt Wagner (6-3) started and took the loss for Newark. He went five innings and allowed 7 runs (6 earned), 7 hits and two home runs.
Newark and Camden will play the middle game of their three-game series Thursday night as Alberto Castillo (3-1) pitches for the Bears and Delvis Pacheco counters for the Riversharks.
