Rocky Mountain's Tracy Egeland to Coach Northern Conference in CHL All-Star Game

December 17, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Rocky Mountain Head Coach Tracy Egeland has clinched a spot as the head coach for the Northern Conference All-Star team. The game will be played in Broomfield, Colorado on Wednesday, January 16th at the Broomfield Event Center, the same building Egeland's Rage call home.

The head coaching positions for the Northern and Southern Conference All-Star teams are selected by winning percentage through the games of December 23rd. Egeland, in his second season with Rocky Mountain, has clinched that spot with a 17-2-2 record and a current winning percentage of .857. Regardless of the results in the final games prior to the 23rd, Egeland can not relinquish the top spot.

The Rage have made a remarkable turnaround in their second season sitting currently with the league's best record and the highest point total in the Northern Conference. Rocky Mountain has a 10-point lead in the Northwest Division and is unbeaten in regulation at home this season at 9-0-2. Rocky Mountain currently has won five straight games.

Egeland was named the Rage's head coach on May 18, 2006 (their expansion season). As a player, he played in nearly 600 professional games, a career that lasted 12 seasons. As a head coach, Egeland has been with the Lubbock Cotton Kings and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.

The Southern Conference head coaching position is between Laredo's Terry Ruskowski (.731) and Arizona's Marco Pietroniro (.717), each have three games remaining before a determination is made. The Bucks play at Odessa on Thursday and home to Austin on Friday and Saturday, while the Sundogs are home for games on Wednesday versus Corpus Christi and Friday and Saturday versus Rio Grande Valley.
