December 17, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending December 16th, 2007 are center David Nimmo of the Amarillo Gorillas and goaltender Jason Tapp of the Corpus Christi Rayz.

Nimmo has been one of the stars for the Gorillas during their current four-game win streak scoring three goals and six assists during the streak. The St. Albert, Alberta native had a goal and multiple points in all three victories last week for Amarillo. For the season, the University of Alabama-Huntsville star is tied for the league lead among rookies with 26 points and leads all first year players with 14 goals. Nimmo has recorded points in 10 of his last 11 games totaling 16 points (6-10=16).

Tapp went 2-1-0 on the week and saw more shots than any other CHL goaltender over the past seven days. In his past three games, the Kelowna, British Columbia native saw 128 shots and turned away 121 of them (.945 save percentage). On Thursday, Tapp helped carry the Rayz to a 5-2 victory over the red-hot Arizona Sundogs. In the game, Tapp turned away 58 shots including 22 in the third period. The only goals allowed were both yielded on the Sundogs power play. Tapp's other victory came on Saturday in a 2-1 victory over Austin where he turned away 35 shots. For the season, the former Boston University netminder leads the league with 1236:25 minutes played, 653 saves and four shootout wins.

In recognition of their achievements, both Nimmo and Tapp will receive a special gift from Oakley.
