Bloomington Extreme News Release

BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - The Bloomington Extreme Indoor Football Team has acquired and signed quarterback Rocky Hinds for the 2011 season. Less than a week into training camp, the Extreme were able to secure the gifted quarterback who will begin participating in practices with the team on Saturday.

The 6'5" 230 lbs. quarterback from UNLV will rejoin the Extreme Saturday for practice as the team prepares for their Sunday, February 27 season opening game at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum versus the Richmond Revolution.

Hinds played for the Extreme in 2010 after being acquired during the season from the Omaha Beef. In 12 games with the Extreme, the dual threat quarterback completed 76% of his passes, going 157 of 282 for 1,343 yards and 22 touchdown passes. Hinds also rushed for 130 yards and 5 touchdowns while breaking the franchise record for most consecutive victories by a starting quarterback, as the Extreme closed the 2010 regular season 6-0, earning a playoff berth for the fourth consecutive season.

Hinds was a highly decorated quarterback coming out of high school at St. Bernard High School in Playa del Rey, CA. Listed as a top ten quarterback recruit, Hinds chose to attend USC and redshirted prior to sitting out the following season after transferring to UNLV. In his first year of eligibility at UNLV, Hinds passed for 2,148 yards. The following season Hinds was named preseason second team All-Mountain West Conference by Athlon and Phil Steele and was rated the #27 QB in the nation. Hinds' season and college career were cut short due to a partially torn ACL.

"Getting Rocky back is a tremendous acquisition for our football team and we're very excited to have him as a part of our family. He's been home in California working out and preparing, while contemplating offers and opportunities he's received from teams in the IFL and in other leagues. We wanted Rocky as our quarterback in 2011 and after spending time thinking about the season, he too thought Bloomington was the best fit for him. Our players all respect Rocky and look forward to having him as our signal caller this year," states Head Coach Mike Murray. "Rocky has very good mechanics, a quick release, great speed for a man his size, and the respect of his teammates."

The Bloomington Extreme open the season Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum against the Richmond Revolution with a 3:05 pm start time. Richmond finished the 2010 season with a 13-2 record. For ticket information, visit www.bloomingtonextreme.com or contact the Extreme Sales Office at 309.663.8280.
