RockHounds Promotional Schedule
February 25, 2010 - Texas League (TL1)
Midland RockHounds News Release
The Midland RockHounds will open defense of their Texas League championship on Thursday, April 8 at Citibank Ballpark, Opening Day for the 2010 Texas League season.
The RockHounds will host the Arkansas Travelers (Los Angeles Angels affiliate) and the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) each for a three-game series to open the season. The âHounds are defending Texas League champions after capturing their second title in five seasons (see right).
The schedule, as always, will keep the RockHounds busy on the diamond ... and on the bus ... playing 140 games in 151 days (April 8-September 6).
For the RockHounds front office and field staffs, the schedule actually includes a 141st game and two of those 11 "off days" will, instead, be both busy and historic:
The RockHounds will host the Texas League All-Star Game, Wednesday, June 30th at Citibank Ballpark.
The All-Star Game will feature a match-up between top players from the Texas League's North and South Divisions, a home run hitting contest and post-game fireworks. The two-day celebration will also include a golf tournament, benefitting the Scott Seator Foundation, and the annual West Texas Sports Banquet & Memorabilia Auction, which moves to June (29th) this season only.
The RockHounds are also home for the Fourth of July this season, with fireworks set for both (Saturday) July 3 and (Sunday) Independence Day. Including the All-Star Game and the July 3 & 4 shows, the RockHounds have nine (9) fireworks nights scheduled in 2010.
The combination of the All-Star Game and Independence Day weekend at Citibank Ballpark should produce one of the biggest, and most significant, home stands in the franchise's 39-year history.
Opening weekend will include not only a fireworks show, but a pair of souvenir giveaway items commemorating the 2009 Texas League championship. On Friday, April 9, the first 1,000 fans receive a replica championship ring display and on Saturday (April 10), the first 1,000 fans will receive a championship team photo, with a fireworks show following the game.
In addition to souvenir giveaways and fireworks throughout the home schedule, the RockHounds will also continue with a series of nightly specials, including "Thirsty Thursdays," which have become a ballpark staple and a jump-start to West Texas weekends.
Season ticket and mini-plan packages are on sale now at the team's offices at Citibank Ballpark. Ticket information is also available on the club's website: midlandrockhounds.org
